How to Help the PreBorn in America

We all share a loud, chaotic world that is filled with emotion, opinion, beauty, and despair. The world we share is a broken one, but it is also one where our great God often interrupts the heartache with beauty. One of the most astonishing acts of beauty that God shows the world is the birth of a child. We seem to have a clear vision of God when we hold a newborn child because we know we are holding His masterpiece.

In a world where there is an abundance of conflict and division, we need to see more of God’s beauty. We need to see more of His children born into this world. We need to help the preborn.

So many of us share a strong burden to help the voiceless and innocent. We want to help, we want to see a change, but we rarely know where to start. The truth is, we overcomplicate our steps. Helping the preborn is a heavy charge from the Lord, but it is a simple one. If you share the strong burden to help more women choose life, and to see more babies saved, you simply need to use your giftings, use your voice, and pray.

Use Your Giftings

God desires that all people use their talents, skills, and giftings to complete His work in the world. There is one body, and one head over the body, but the body is composed of many parts. Each part of the body must operate in its God-given function in harmony with other parts of the body, working towards a common goal (1 Corinthians 12:12).

It is vitally important to know and understand your giftings so you can properly apply them. It can be difficult to assess ourselves accurately to determine what giftings we hold. To truly know ourselves, we need spiritually-wise Christ-followers surrounding us that can speak into us.

The pro-life movement needs your spiritual gifts, but the movement also needs your practical skills. Are you a talented artist? Pray about a painting that you can create and donate to your local pregnancy center for their facility. Are you a web developer? Volunteer your time and services to pro-life charities to help build a strong web presence. Whatever your spiritual giftings or practical giftings are, there are millions of women and their preborn children that need your help.

The fight for the sanctity of life doesn’t stop with voting. God wants you to take action. God wants you to invest the giftings that He graciously gave you to bring LIFE into the world. Your local church and local pregnancy center need your giftings to extend their reach and multiply their impact. Will you say yes to God’s call?

Use Your Voice

The world is a divisive place. People have fought against one another from the moment sin entered the world. It seems that the world’s conflict has amplified within the last fifteen years as a consequence of social media’s influence.

People are bold behind screens. They fearlessly and sometimes carelessly shout thoughts without consideration of the consequences. Those that represent Christ are called to bring hope, light, and life into this world. This command does not exclude our words on social media. Christ-followers should talk about the sanctity of life, and we should talk about the injustice of abortion. However, we must never fall prey to the temptation to name-call, shame, or belittle those who hold other views. We must lead with love, and speak facts in humility.

Social media, at its core, is a wonderful opportunity for the pro-life movement to share honest and insightful information with people who support abortion. But we should also engage face-to-face with other people around us about this issue. Talk to your neighbors about life. Share your story. Tell people about how God has saved so many children you now love because a woman was courageous enough to choose life. Use your voice online, and use your voice in your neighborhood.

Pray for the Preborn and their Mothers

We live in a broken world, and we serve a holy God. Our God is entirely unblemished and wholly sovereign, yet our God chooses to commune with His creation. God has a desire to speak with us. He wants to hear our cries, our shouts, our celebrations, and our worries. He loves to hear us speak to Him. This incredible gift called prayer allows us to commune with the Creator of the World. Prayer, throughout the entirety of scripture, has been shown to be a powerful force within the heart of God. Prayer honors God, and prayer changes the atmosphere in which we live.

King David is known to this day for his powerful prayer life. He prayed honest prayers to God in times of celebration, and in times of battle. In Psalm 12, David cries out to the Lord during Saul’s reign over Israel. During that particular moment, there was deep corruption in the courts and leadership of the Holy Land, and David turned to the heart of the Lord to commune with Him in prayer.

Today, there is deep corruption circling the conversation around abortion. May we fight with our love, our giftings, and our prayer.

As you fight with love, giftings, and prayer, meditate on Psalm 12 for encouragement on the difficult days, knowing that our efforts to help the preborn in America are seen and honored by our Lord.

Psalm 12 (NIV)

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;

those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.

2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;

they flatter with their lips

but harbor deception in their hearts.

3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips

and every boastful tongue—

4 those who say,

“By our tongues we will prevail;

our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”

5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,

I will now arise,” says the Lord.

“I will protect them from those who malign them.”

6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,

like silver purified in a crucible,

like gold refined seven times.

7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe

and will protect us forever from the wicked,

8 who freely strut about

when what is vile is honored by the human race.
